| About John Rose |
|
John studied at Aston University from 1981 to 1984. He graduated in 1984 with Honours Degree in Optometry and Visual Sciences. After graduating he spent his pre-registration year split between private practice and the contact lens department of Moorfields Eye Hospital gaining a wide range of experience in all aspects of optometry. After successfully completing his professional exams he was first registered as an optometrist in 1986.
He spent the first 10 years working self employed as a locum for numerous private practices across London and the South East. Being self employed enabled him to travel extensively throughout the world and when time allowed to get involved in helping with charity activities. During a charity event in South Africa he met his future wife and is now married with 3 children.
Having got married he felt the need to settle down and opened the Kingston Eye Centre in April 1997. He still keeps regular contact with Aston University which is one of the leading Optometric Institutions in the UK, if not the world. Aston is currently leading the field in ground breaking research into myopia development and visual evoked brain function.
During his time at Aston University he developed an interest in dyslexia and a special interest in glaucoma. Hence, his practice has specialised in these areas of interest.
He is a member of the British Association of behavioural optometrists.
He has always had a keen interest in sport such as rugby, water polo, swimming, golf and cycling and in 1999 he was one of the first practitioners outside of Australia and US to gain a diploma in sports vision practice. This is the study or how the visual system and visual function relates to performance in sport ranging from the elite sportsman to the man in the street. This interest in sports vision allowed him to help develop a revolutionary form of golf ball that aids visual performance in golf. It is currently being used by leading participants in the European Tour and was endorsed by Keith Williams a previous England golf coach. |
